Philanthropy

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has been Phi Mu’s national philanthropic partner since 1986. “To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand.” The first line of Phi Mu’s Creed has been a call to serve others since it was written more than 100 years ago. From our earliest days of supporting a health mobile that delivered health care to women and children in rural areas to supporting toy carts for children in hospitals to our current partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Phi Mu has long been committed to lending a helping hand to those in need.

We are proud to be the only sorority to partner with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and have an alliance with the National Women’s History Museum. We were also the first sorority to establish a National Philanthropy Day more than 20 years ago. Lending a helping hand is at the heart of who we are as Phi Mus.

Phi Theta's Philanthropy

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. All funds raised for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals stay in the local community for patient care, new equipment, and research on children’s diseases, illnesses, and injuries. Our members are passionate about CMN Hospitals and provide financial support through their local philanthropic initiatives, including toy and supply drives, Believe in Tomorrow Dinners, annual trivia events, Miracle Man, Mu Madness, food-based fundraisers, and Tigerthon. Each year, approximately 65 children’s hospitals nationwide benefit from Phi Mu’s collegiate and alumnae chapter fundraising events. At Towson University, we make a direct impact on Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Our philanthropy means everything to us, and being able to see the impact our chapter makes by meeting children at Tigerthon or sending meals to families continues to inspire us to strive for excellence.
